YOUNG SCIENTISTS DISCOVER THE WORLD

The project divided the project into 5 parts:

1. Let's know each other. How the school lives are similar and different in our countries? Students present their school life, their towns  and their countries (films/presentations are made).

 

2. Magic Science. Students follow the life of Maria Skłodowska-Curie: together they make an book about her life and scientific achievements. Students make chemical experiments and make tutorials of them. Students meet a scientist and interview him/her. The interviews are shared with partner schools. Videomeeting is run.

 

3. Amazing Biology: Students know about the life of the Spanish biologist, María Blasco Marhuenda. They make a booklet about her life and major scientific research. Students make biological experiments and make tutorials on them. Students meet a doctor and interview him/her about dangerous illnesses and what we can do to avoid it and how to cure such illnesses. The interviews are shared with partner schools. Videomeeting is run.

 

4.The omniscient of the ancient world. Students know about the life of the Greek scientist and philosopher Aristotle. Make a booklet about his life Students observe nature and record their findings Students visit the university of Thessaloniki which is named in honor of Aristotle, meet a professor of philosophy and interview him about Aristotle’s philosophy and how it can implement is modern science. The interview is shared with partner schools. Videomeeting is run.

 

5. Flash of Genius - Leonardo da Vinci.

Task 1. Creation of a Lapbook. Crosswords Puzzles: children, divided into mixed teams and using the interactive multitouch table, compete in a game with scores and times. Task2. Children will search for hidden words related to some of Leonardo’s works, inventions and areas of interest. Task 2. Task 4: Construction of a prototype flying machine: the parachute. Production of a video. Task 5 “Launch of the paper balls”. Team competition with the use of the built machine, aimed at throwing paper balls to center mini-baskets. Gioconda – Realization of Leonardo's painting with Coding/Pixel Art. Task 6 Art exhibition: exhibition of the “works” complete with labels with the names of the young “artists”. Vitruvian Man - Representation of the Vitruvian Man with recycled material
